Happy Friday and very happy Fall everyone! My favorite season has finally arrived, and it sure has felt like it recently. We have been outdoors on location all week for my job shooting Birch Lane spring catalog. It is now a necessity that I pull out my cozy sweaters and scarves rather than jumping the gun and pretending I'm not sweating to death when wearing fall clothing items. But alas fall is here to stay (hopefully)!

Now a little about this amazing studio we were so graciously allowed to shoot in. While discussing locations for outfit shoots, Anna suggested Blue Lotus Trading Co. which is conveniently located downtown Winston-Salem. Not only is it a boutique on the lower level but when you walk up the stairs you enter a light filled tranquil yoga studio space. It has a bright, spacious, Anthropologie feel to the environment which we wanted to capture. The plants were an added bonus and made the room feel very inviting and "natural", if you will. I thought the tasseled free flowing top and faux leather pants would be the perfect outfit for a space such as this.

Side note, we also used this space for my previous post Simple Stripes in which we incorporated their lovely claw foot chair and bright throw pillows. Big thanks to Kate for allowing us to use her beautiful studio.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and thank you for taking the time to follow along!

When I saw this dress at Target, I was immediately attracted to the simplicity of it as well as the loose structure. It's a good basic dress that can be worn many different ways. It can be dressed up with heels (as I have it above) or I also picture it worn with a tie waste chambray shirt and a pair of Chuck's for a whole new casual look. The best part about this dress is that it is on clearance for $20! I would definitely advise you to head over to your local Target and pick up this fantastic find.

On a side note, I can't wait for this weekend as I will be heading to the Farm Aid Festival in Raleigh, NC. Farm Aid board members which include Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, and John Mellencamp will be headlining the concert along with Jack White (!), Gary Clark Jr., Lukas Nelson, and many more.

The mission of this festival is not only to hear great music but to keep family farmers on their land.

"It is the longest running benefit concert series in America and has raised more than $45 million to help family farmers thrive all over the country!"

I for one am excited to be apart of it.

Any suggestions on what to wear for this said concert?

Coming off of my long Labor Day weekend, I am feeling refreshed and inspired as I begin to plan for the upcoming fall season. One fashion rule I have never followed is to stay away from white after Labor Day. To me that is outdated and boring as white is wearable and fun throughout the year. It's as if I can feel the warmth of the soft wool scarfs and sweaters, and taste the pumpkin everything as I am writing this post.

I have to say, this was one of my favorite locations we have shot at to date. It allowed me to see my city from a different view, and coupled with one of my favorite dresses it was perfect. ASOS is a great place to shop if you want to find fashionable items at a decent price. When I saw this dress I knew I had to have it! I loved how the "X" and "O" look as if they are painted on and the open back detail dressed it up a bit. All it needed was a pop of color from my cobalt blue shoes and I was ready to hit the town.

ASOS is also having their Final Clearance Sale going on now with up to 70% off on items. Happy browsing!
