Capes are trending this fall and I couldn't be more excited about that. There is something about throwing a cape over a cozy knit or thermal that is easy and effortless. I have actually had this Jessica Simpson cape for quite some time now, and finally was able to break it out in the cold breezy mountain air. I paired it with a monochromatic white sweater and jeans combo to really make the red pop. Clearly, I disregarded the fashion "rule" about not wearing white after Labor Day. I think white any time of the year is gorgeous especially in those snowy winter months.

I am gearing up for Halloween in Asheville, NC this Friday, and I am so excited. I FINALLY get to see The Avett Brothers live and with my closest friend Caroline! The fact that it is one of my favorite holidays is just icing on the cake. Sadly, the only detail I am lacking is what I am going to be for Halloween. With that said, I am open for suggestions.

What do you think of the cape trend? I would love to hear your thoughts!

It's finally sweater weather and what better way to kick it off but with a cozy cowl neck knit sweater? I actually picked this one up last weekend on a shopping outing to Stein Mart. I never think to go there for my every day needs, but let me tell you. They had so many great items it was difficult to pick and choose what I wanted to take home with me. I decided on this Workshop knit because I loved the loose fit and intricate design. Paired with these navy Earl Jeans and Nordstrom wide brim hat, I was ready for a beautiful day in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

One of the best parts about residing in North Carolina is that I can live in the piedmont and within an hour or so be in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Having moved away from these said mountains two years ago, I am always looking for a chance to take a drive up those scenic roads. The leaves have started changing which is a no brainer backdrop for any fall shoot. Anna and I took a day trip up to Boone, NC to do just that. We started off by getting lost a time or two (or 100) but despite all of that had a beautifully fun filled day.

These photos were taken at Julian Price lake which offers an abundance of beauty and trails. It was perfect weather for a light jacket and boyfriend jeans which I obviously took advantage of. I have finally found a pair of boyfriend jeans that didn't make me feel like I was literally wearing men's pants. They are comfortable, effortless, and pair well with any top. I chose to pair it with this awesome Jimi Hendrix graphic tee I picked up from Target while browsing, but any tee would do.

By the way, if you haven't noticed my blog got a mini facelift over the weekend. Out with the old in with the new I always say. I would love to hear what you think!

Target has certainly done it again with this cotton based jumper I picked up a couple of weeks ago. It is a good fall transitional piece and the embroidered detail won me over immediately. I paired it with this vibrant button down top to give the outfit a little more of a layered boyfriend look.

One of the best things about Target is that I never leave without feeling as if I got a good deal on my items. Trendy pieces at an affordable price seems to be Target's motto. Also, if you haven't heard they have launched their new Altuzarra for Target line. Check it out if you haven't already.

I Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday. It's almost the weekend which means it's almost time for me to head up the mountain for some Appalachian State football! Go Mountaineers!
